APsystems: A Unique, Safe Solution for UK Housing Corporations
With APsystems microinverters, there is a unique solution for tenants. For example, there is need for a central inverter for each individual property, no space has to be handed in and there is no inconvenience during the installation (such as privacy issues or drilling) at the individual resident or tenant. No separate appointment is required with the resident for an assembly date.
Only one monitoring unit (an ECU) is required for all panels and micro-inverters, yet each individual tenant can view their own energy yield, even per panel. The APsystems Monitor (Energy Monitoring and Analysis, EMA) application provides continuous insight and management of the installation via computer, tablet, or smartphone.
The APsystems microinverters are installed on the roof behind the solar panels. A big advantage is that this does not come at the expense of space; there is no heat development or annoying sounds such as a hum or a beep created by an inverter. Incorrect use of the tenant/resident is also excluded, as there is no electrical equipment in the house.
With just one monitoring unit, the ECU, an entire street or apartment building can be monitored, while each home uses its own generated electricity, thanks to Zigbee communication. When using an ECU (Energy Communication Unit), a separate login can be created for each home, allowing each individual tenant to monitor their energy yield per system. Naturally, the owner—i.e. the housing corporation—maintains the overall overview.
By applying this technology and the option of shared monitoring, a significant initial saving of no less than 36% on the investment can be achieved on the investment in microinverters and ECUs for an installation of 25 homes with 4 or 8 panels per home. Each resident has their own monitoring !
So why APsystems microinverters?
- Optimal yield in shaded environments or different roof pitches
- One SKU suitable for any roof or situation
- One ECU for monitoring multiple (tenant) solar panel systems
- No single point of failure (if one panel underperforms, it does not affect others)
- Safe: the system operates with AC power
- Modular: simple to expand, enabling initial cost savings
- No incorrect use of the system by the tenant or resident
- Microinverters do not come of the expense of space
- No mechanical parts – no noise – no heat generation
